The striped bass is a member of the temperate bass family. Adults of this species have between six and nine dark gray stripes on the side body and the back is dark olive to blue-gray. The body is smoothly arched pre-dorsally and deepest between the dorsal fins. Striped bass migrate upriver from oceans to spawn and can be found in channels of medium to large lakes, rivers and impoundments. This species has been successfully introduced to landlocked impoundments.

  • River Drainages — Perdido River, Escambia River, Yellow River, Choctawhatchee River, Apalachicola River and minor Gulf tributaries
