Sharpfin chubsuckers are members of the sucker family. They lack a lateral line, and have a sharply pointed dorsal fin and between 40 and 45 lateral scales. These chubsuckers have a thick body and nearly terminal mouth. They can be found over sand or silt – often near vegetation, – in pools and backwaters of creeks and small rivers.
