The redface topminnow is a member of the topminnow family. It has an olive-green body with rows of small brown to red spots on the side, and the fins are clear to red-orange. There are five preopercular pores. Redface topminnows can be found in marshes and other wetlands, ditches and ponds. They’re also common in the backwaters of sluggish creeks and small to medium rivers, and are usually found near vegetation.
