The diamond killifish is a member of the topminnow family. It has a short, diamond-shaped body and a pointed snout. There is a series of thin silver and thick gray bars present on the side in both sexes. Diamond killifish have an upturned mouth. This is a marine species that enters tidal creeks and ditches, and is usually found near the coast.
