The photo above shows an adult, top, and juvenile, bottom, Apalachicola redhorse. These fish were collected in 2015 are are now part of the Florida Museum ichthyology collection, UF 237849

The Apalachicola redhorse is a member of the sucker family. It has a slightly U-shaped rear edge on the lower lip and blade-like teeth on the slender pharyngeal arch. The caudal fin is red with a black submarginal band. This species can be found in rocky pools, and in sandy runs and riffles of small to large rivers.

  • River Drainages — Econfina Creek and the Apalachicola River
