|MEXICO CITY COPY OF HUEJOTZINGO BLUE ON WHITE
|MEXICO CITY, MEXICO
Uniform and compact orange or red paste with visible sand tempering.
Thick, off white tin enamel, commonly showing crazing and pinholing.
Decoration is limited to a single linear or wavy rim band at the vessel lip, in blue, orange or green.
|This is an undescribed variety identified by Florence and Robert Lister, thought to have been produced in Mexico City because of its paste and background enamel characteristics. The chronological position is currently undetermined, although stylistically it appears contemporary to the Huejotzingo-type majolicas produced in Puebla.
