Description

Through this program, the Internship Program participant will gain experience and hands-on training in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. The Intern is also introduced to basic medical skills, including bandaging, laboratory analysis, fluid therapy, and other subjects pertinent to wildlife rehabilitation. Interns in this program are supervised by five wildlife rehabilitators and the staff veterinarian. This challenging position requires participants to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hard-working, and dedicated to animal welfare. In return, the Intern will receive in-depth hands-on training in all aspects of wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.

Benefits

Upon completing the intern program, you will leave with a varied experience in wildlife rehabilitation that includes animal care, basic medical techniques, education program development, public speaking skills, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of birds, mammals, and reptiles.

$300 bi-weekly cost of living stipend and dorm accommodation, including laundry, provided.

Qualifications

  • be at least a senior in college with skills and/or experience with wildlife
  • preference will be given to those with prior rehabilitation experience
  • must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Minimum six-month commitment, nine-month commitment preferred
