When it comes to helping care for our planet, it’s all hands on deck. Our Environmental Leaders programs aim to connect UF students to environmental research, education & outreach, and civic engagement opportunities.
- UF TESI Environmental Leaders Network: Undergraduate students here at the University of Florida who have an interest in environmental topics can join the Environmental Leaders Network at any time! Through this network, we seek to empower students interested in the environment through opportunities, seminars, workshops, networking, etc. The goal is to connect students with resources on and off the University of Florida campus. We want to connect students to opportunities that can utilize their skills, passions, and knowledge, for the betterment of the environment!
- UF TESI Environmental Leaders Fellowship: This pilot program brought together students from diverse majors and backgrounds and provided them with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and network to advocate for the planet as they take on leadership roles in their respective careers. Funded by a faculty grant from the Henry David Thoreau Foundation, this Fellowship offered UF undergraduates from a variety of majors the opportunity to gain experience in environmental research, education & outreach, and civic engagement. Our 2021-22 cohort attended seminars featuring environmental experts, received mentoring from professionals in environmental fields, networked with peers, and took part in a fellow-designed, multi-day field experience focused on environmental challenges across Florida. We look forward to offering this program again in future years.
