McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity

Visiting Researcher Awards

The “Mr. Carl Wisler and Dr. Midge Smith Visiting Researcher Endowment” provides awards to Lepidoptera researchers to enable them to visit and work at the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity (MGCL).

The awards are intended to facilitate the use of our collections, provide new opportunities for collaboration, and help curate and enhance the McGuire collections through the expertise of visiting researchers.

Award amount: Up to $1000. Requests for additional funds may be considered.

Eligibility: Awards support any qualified visitor (student, amateur, professional) wishing to conduct research in the MGCL collections.

MGCL host: Prior to applying for an award, applicants should contact an appropriate member of staff (e.g., faculty or collections managers) or postdoctoral researcher at the MGCL who will serve as their host. The host should be in support of the application, advise the applicant about travel logistics, and facilitate access to the collections during the applicant’s visit.

Application requirements: Prospective visitors should submit an application form by email to the Director of the MGCL, currently Dr. Keith R. Willmott (kwillmott@flmnh.ufl.edu). There is no current deadline, applications are considered as they are received.
