This is a citizen science project to better understand how manatees utilize the springs in the Suwannee, Santa Fe, and Ichetucknee rivers. Students will learn about manatee and springs ecology.

This is a great opportunity to learn to communicate with people of all kinds of backgrounds and of whom may disagree with you. This is especially important for those who want to get involved in environmental communication and education careers. Volunteering with Florida State Parks is also a great way to get your foot in the door with any career in the Florida State Parks or larger Department of Environmental Protection.

The Repurpose Project is an environmental nonprofit whose mission is to divert usable goods from the landfill and redirect them to the public to help people and the planet.

The CWC is looking for volunteer energy coaches to help low-income residents in Gainesville lower their electricity and water bills.

Students will learn how to generate and analyze environmental archaeology data that is used to understand sustainability practices and past lifeways. While these projects are situated in southern Florida, they have implications for global tropical and subtropical environments, especially those within wetland ecosystems.

Students will gain experience in springs fieldwork, data collection, and wildlife surveys, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the factors that influence the health of springs systems.
