As a K-12 education and outreach scientist with TESI’s Scientist in Every Florida School program, Matthew Stanley is responsible for conducting in-person and virtual classroom visits across Marion County. Working in partnership with the Silver River Museum in Ocala, Stanley will focus his science education efforts in Marion County schools, particularly those that receive Title I funding. Stanley will provide educators and students with hands-on and engaging lessons and a direct connection to scientific professionals. The goal of his efforts will be to provide unique learning experiences that intertwine with real-world applications for students and teachers.

Prior to joining the UF Thompson Earth Systems Institute, Stanley served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army. He completed his bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a concentration in horticulture from Tarleton State University. He is passionate about conservation, environmental education, and restoration-based agriculture. In addition to his role, he hopes to pursue a graduate program in environmental education so that he may better support the goals of TESI.
