Position description

The UF Center for Coastal Solutions in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is looking for a part-time communications and marketing assistant to support our mission of advancing science and developing solutions to improve the health and resiliency of coastal waters, ecosystems, and communities in Florida. You will gain diverse experience working with a dynamic team of researchers / staff and a chance to make a real difference. Preference is given to students majoring in marketing, public relations, business or a related field. Knowledge of and a passion for digital marketing, events management and coastal and environmental issues is preferred.

Essential Duties

Assist with implementing an online marketing and social media strategy; participate in email campaigns, social network growth, and engagement; create graphics/content that increases the level and quality of engagement with our followers; Write website and other copy as needed. Provide communications and event planning support for our annual summit.

Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manage content creation calendar
  • Create weekly social media posts, including posts about research, events, technology, feature profiles
  • Write website / social media and other content
  • Write articles for monthly newsletter
  • Participant in meetings, research and idea generation
  • Assist with coordination of the Annual Summit and other outreach events
  • Work directly with Communications Specialist
  • Produce weekly reports of activity

Eligibility

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
