The Florida-Georgia Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (FGLSAMP) is a coalition of twelve academic institutions in Florida and one in Georgia with a commitment to increasing the quality and quantity of students successfully completing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree programs, particularly by groups that historically have been underrepresented in these areas: African-Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and Native Pacific Islanders. The long-term goal of FGLSAMP is to increase the number of students from underrepresented populations in STEM fields who earn doctorates by stimulating interest in graduate study and providing the tools necessary for academic success. FGLSAMP is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and includes over 1000 talented undergraduates from across Florida and Georgia.
