Want to make a difference on an environmental issue but aren’t sure where to start? Join UF Gulf Scholars and the Thompson Earth Systems Institute for a hands-on workshop exploring strategies for community action projects that improve the environment. This interactive workshop will introduce students to Community Action Projects for the Environment (CAPE), a civic engagement framework that helps participants move from identifying an environmental concern to understanding its root causes, engaging with community partners and decision-makers, and developing a clear and persuasive plan for action.

Through hands-on activities, students will explore how environmental change happens at the community level and practice skills they can use in their own projects, organizations and future careers. Whether you’re interested in climate resilience, conservation, water, sustainability or another issue affecting your community, you’ll leave with practical tools for turning ideas into action.

Snacks will be included.
