The University of Florida Thompson Earth Systems Institute is seeking scientists to serve as science mentors during our Scientist in Every Florida School virtual summer professional development workshop for Florida K-12 teachers. The workshop, titled “Nature of Science,” will take place online from July 6-10, 2020.

Using virtual platforms like Zoom, interested scientists, lab members, graduate students and postdocs will be expected to give teachers authentic experiences in the lab. Throughout the week, scientists will work with teachers to co-design lesson plans and outreach activities that can be used in the upcoming school year.

The time commitment for each mentor is approximately 10-12 hours for the week. This is a great way to hone your K-12 outreach skills and get involved in public schools!
