This week’s Fossil Friday feature is a fossil ark shell called Anadara (Rasia) dariensis. This clam was found stuck to rocks in the Early and Late Miocene (21-8 mya) waters around Panama in both the Caribbean and the Pacific.Their tiny teeth are arranged in a straight line along the hinge line on the inside of the shell. This type of dentition is called “taxodont.”
