National Geographic Photo Ark
Saving species through photography
Speaker: Joel Sartore
National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore will speak at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on April 21 about the National Geographic Photo Ark, a multiyear effort led by Sartore to document every species currently held in captivity and inspire people to help save these animals before it’s too late.
The presentation includes a behind-the-scenes look at his travels around the globe to capture the most toxic, outrageous, colorful and simply beautiful creatures, including images taken at the Florida Museum and other locations across the state. Through photographs, videos and amazing stories, guests can hear how everyone can make a difference. Sartore’s beautiful, playful and moving photographs accompany his own powerful story in the new National Geographic book, “The Photo Ark: One Man’s Quest to Document the World’s Animals.”
Tickets are free and will be available at the Phillips Center box office at noon on Friday, April 21. Seating is limited.
Reception to Follow
A 100th Birthday Celebration reception will follow the presentation from 9 to 10 p.m. at the Phillips Center. Both events are FREE and open to the public!
