Today was for the frogs! Our frog expert Maria Vallejo helped find and ID the numerous frog fossils that were basically jumping out of the site and screen wash!

“Frogs are the important fossils!” Maria says.

While the big fossils get the most attention, fossils of small animals can tell us so much about the local ecosystem during the time they inhabited the area. Micro fossils are harder to find and study because they are significantly more fragile. We usually bring them back to the lab for further ID and study.
