Step back in time 290 million years when distinctive creatures dominated life on land and sea, and learn about the greatest extinction the world has ever seen inside Permian Monsters: Life Before the Dinosaurs!

Featuring special guest speaker Peter Brannen, award-winning science journalist and author of “The Ends of the World: Volcanic Apocalypses, Lethal Oceans, and Our Quest to Understand Earth’s Past Mass Extinctions.”  Brannen’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Washington Post, Wired and The Guardian among other publications. “The Ends of the World” was selected as a part of The New York Times Editors’ Choice 2017 and Forbes Top 10 Best Environment, Climate and Conservation Book of 2017.

  • 6:30 p.m.-Doors open to Individual, Dual, Household and Supporting Members
  • 6:45 p.m.-Presentation by Peter Brannen
  • 7:30 p.m.-Book signing and exploration of the exhibit
    “The Ends of the World” will be for sale in the Museum’s Gift Shop. Members receive 10% off the book.

Desserts and refreshments will be served.
