Finally! We got our own house in order and the OMT site is now lookin’ good in the new design. Two things factored into the amount of time it took to get the new OMT site online:

Four sites combined into one: OMT had several separate sites that are now under one umbrella. The previous main OMT site, OMT-TV video tutorials, OMT Code Forge and the OMT Journal site. Didn’t know about all of those? Not surprising…but now that content should be easier to find all together under one roof.

Complete refresh of web development tutorials: The real reason for the delay….this is all on me (Sarah). Even though there were a few existing tutorial videos about WordPress already, I wanted to refresh all of them and add more. With the shift to WordPress as our main CMS, there is a lot more I wanted to bring our users up to speed on. I was loathe to launch our pretty new site when the tutorials refresh was halfway done, so I held off until they were complete. Now, (52 hours of effort later), there are 17 videos (as well as written instructions) for basic editing tasks, image and document management and site customization options. With these complete I’ll also be able to start offering in-person training classes so our users will have 3 different training options depending on how they learn best. Can’t wait to get more people feeling comfortable working with WordPress!
