Iconic Skeletons: Humphrey the Humpback Whale

Discovered near New Smyrna Beach, Florida, this juvenile male Humpback Whale, Megaptera novaeangliae, now hangs near the entrance to the Florida Museum of Natural History “Discovery Zone” exhibit. With 264 bones, it took seven people more than seven months to fully rearticulate the skeleton for the Museum’s 100th anniversary in 2017.
