The Shirey Global Change Lab at the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity

The Shirey Lab engages in cross-disciplinary research to understand (a) how patterns of butterfly and moth biodiversity emerge and are maintained, (b) how global change has and will continue to influence these patterns, and (c) how society interacts with biodiversity through governance, knowledge production, and culture.

We use a variety of tools, from computer vision and natural language processing to advanced modeling techniques, alongside art-based research practices to facilitate discovery.
