Leap into the strange and fascinating world of frogs! This ribbiting edition of Science on Tap features herpetologist David Blackburn, our favorite frog fan. Join us and the University of Florida Thompson Earth Systems Institute at Cypress and Grove Brewing Co.

person smilingGrab a drink and hear all about our amphibious friends from David Blackburn, Florida Museum Curator of Herpetology and Associate Director of Research & Collections. He will be sharing stories of new discoveries, surprising adaptations, and the impact of non-native species. Along the way, you’ll learn how Florida fits into a much bigger story of frog diversity worldwide.

Dave’s research group studies the diversity and evolution of frogs and other amphibians from around the world. Their work has resulted in the discovery and description of new species, new understandings of how frog evolution was impacted by the Earth’s history, and investigations of declines of frog populations in Africa. His favorite frog species is the Hairy Frog of Central Africa.
