This semester, Mara Reynolds, our intern in Museum Studies, has begun to produce 3D models of our collection. Models are available to view on Sketchfab, where they can be shared and downloaded to produce 3D prints.

Our first model is one of our most-used tools in the lab, a mold for producing clay bars. The original was made by Ann Cordell from the tray to an industrial dishwater. Now we don’t have to worry about breaking our only one, and can continue to make our bars in a standard size.

Most of our models will be of artifacts within our collection, such as this bird effigy from a Fort Walton vessel. We will be adding models regularly, so check back to see what we’ve got, and let us know if there is an object you would particularly like to see in 3D!
