For more than 40 years people around the world have united to celebrate International Museum Day and raise awareness about the role that museums play as an “important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.” Last year more than 37,000 museums in 158 countries and territories participated.

We think museums are pretty great and that they should be celebrated every day, but we wanted to take this International Museum Day to celebrate our members. You are the heart of our institution and, especially now, your continued support is critical to our mission and ability to provide programs and educational opportunities to our community. You have our heartfelt gratitude. In the spirit of celebration and in honor of all that you do, next Monday’s post will feature YOU!

The Challenge: Share a Museum Memory!

What to do:

  1. Find a favorite photo from a visit to the Florida Museum. Selfies, family fun, events or photos of the exhibits are all welcome!
  2. Tell us more! Do you remember when the picture was taken? What made you choose this photo?
  3. Send the photo to members@flmnh.ufl.edu.

Members Only: Email your submission by noon on Sunday, May 24, for a chance to be featured in the next issue of Membership Monday and receive a puzzle prize from our Collectors Shop!
