Orchids are known for being overstated, exotic, and rare. Spiranthes cernua is an exception. It is found from Texas and Florida north into Canada. Its spiraling inflorescence is delicate and understated, even unrecognizable as an orchid. The abundance of this species is in stark contrast with so many orchid species that are endangered, threatened, or extinct.
