This submission is a Hubble Space Telescope image of the Bullet Cluster, which is a pair of merging galaxy clusters. The image shows the central region of one of the larger cluster, with the elongated, arc-like features being background galaxies that are gravitationally lensed by the cluster. Several multiply imaged galaxies can also be seen in the upper right section of the image. My collaborators and I have utilized this HST data in our research to prove the existence of dark matter and place an upper limit on its self-interaction cross-section. We are now using the Bullet Cluster as a gravitational telescope to search for the most distant, earliest generation of galaxies.
