The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History was established to provide an outlet for longer scientific manuscripts.
It began in 1956 as the Bulletin of the Florida State Museum, Biological Sciences Series. In 1990, Volume 35, the title was changed to Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History, Biological Sciences Series, and in 1995, Volume 37, it became simply Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History.
The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History publishes peer-reviewed results of original research in all aspects of zoology, botany, paleontology, archaeology and museum science. Priority is given to papers primarily composed of specimen-based research. The minimum length for submitted manuscripts is 15 double-spaced pages of text, including references and appendices but excluding figures, tables, and supplemental materials, although there may be exceptions as determined by the managing editor. Authors do not need to be associated with either the Florida Museum of Natural History or the University of Florida to submit and publish papers in the Bulletin. Instructions to authors, including publication costs, can be found here. Address all inquiries to the Managing Editor of the Bulletin.
Starting in 2014, the Bulletin is no longer published in printed format. Each issue of the Bulletin is posted in PDF format on this web site and is available free of charge for reading or downloading. Supplemental materials are available only through the website.
New issues of the Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History are published at irregular intervals. The Bulletin’s ISSN is 2373-9991.
The Bulletin receives manuscripts in confidence and protects the confidentiality of the content.
