With the grand opening of the Beverly and Jon Thompson Discovery Zone, the Junior Volunteer program had all hands on deck to assist in the new exhibit and to lead activities in the Denny Gallery.

This new permanent exhibit is intended for children 8 and under and their families. With explore, study, pretend, and play zones, and countless interactives, the Discovery Zone will engage young visitors for hours. In its first week, the Discovery Zone averaged over 750 visitors a day and Junior Volunteers were available to assist them throughout the week.

Along with compliments for the new exhibit came compliments for the JVs. Many museum guests commented on their kindness, maturity, and eagerness to help. We love when our JVs serve the Museum and the new Discovery Zone will provide a fun, educational way for Junior Volunteers to inspire Museum guests for years to come!
