Fossil Horses in Cyberspace – Online Exhibit
This online exhibit can be viewed here.
The 55 million-year-old fossil record of horses (Family Equidae) in North America is a classic example of long-term evolution. We developed this on-line exhibit between 1996 and 1998 as an informal science education supplement to an existing research project funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation. Although the content has largely remained the same, its graphics were significantly updated in 2019.
Although the original audience for this project was online informal learners, this website has taken on a life of its own and has also been extensively used in K-12 education. It has consistently remained a popular destination for visitors to our Florida Museum website. For example, for the 12-month period between July 2024 through June 2025, it received over 245,700 pageviews from nearly 60,000 users.

Digital Atlas of Ordovician Life: Resources for Teachers
This includes a set of resources for teaching paleontology in K-12 classrooms. Students can examine the 450-million-year-old oceans of Ohio, investigate ancient ecosystem dynamics using fossils from the Cincinnati Arch, and explore geologic time.
