We’ve been teaming up with First Magnitude Brewing Co. for a few years on this fabulous festival to support pollinator conservation. We gathered on June 21 as an informal cap on Pollinator Week (June 16-22, 2025).
This year’s Pollinator Palooza at the brewery had a special focus on the Plant for Pollinators initiative that our Daniels Lab has created. The goal is to support pollinators by encouraging people to grow specific plants that help these targeted insects thrive across a network of yards, patios and other pockets of native plants.
Visitors were able to chat with Daniels Lab researchers about habitat support for insects and then given the choice of one of eight free plant species to take home and plant.
The Florida Museum education team also had a table with fun butterfly-theme activities among the other community partners that tabled at this event. Our education team is out and about in the community with the Florida Museum on the Go! program of pop-up museums while our exhibit building is closed for construction.
First Magnitude created a special brew called Lopsided Hazy IPA after lopsided Indiangrass, the host plant of the arogos skipper butterfly, with 10% of proceeds helping support imperiled butterfly recovery efforts in Florida. We are especially grateful for our ongoing partnership with the brewery to help raise awareness of our conservation efforts here in Florida.
