Become a butterfly at your local library! Learn the facts about our beautiful flying friends and take part in a fun activity to put yourself in their wings.

This Science Surprises session is 45-minute long and perfect for elementary-aged learners. These sessions do not require pre-registration but do have limited capacity.

Make a Butterfly Mask

Have you watched a butterfly land on a flower and extend its long straw (proboscis) to eat? Did you know they’re helping flowers when they do this? We’ll be learning the difference between butterflies and moths and how important they are! Play an interactive pollinator game and take home your own butterfly mask.

We begin each session with an interactive demonstration of a scientific concept, followed by hands-on activities that can be taken home.

This program is supported by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County.
