Dig into the past with us at the library on National Fossil Day! Paleontologists are scientists that study fossils. Learn all about how they uncover the history beneath our feet with interactive activities!

October 15 is National Fossil Day! Come celebrate with us at the library. This Science Surprises session is 45-minute long and perfect for elementary-aged learners. This session does not require pre-registration but does have limited capacity.

Fossil Dig

Ever wondered how scientists find bones and fossils buried deep underground? Step into their shoes by searching for fossils and then using our handy identification chart to see what you found!

We begin each session with an interactive demonstration of a scientific concept, followed by hands-on activities that can be taken home.

This program is supported by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County.
