    : United States: Alabama: Hale County. Talladega National Forest; Route 50 east of Moundville, at Mayfield Creek bridge; up dirt logging road on north side ca. 200 m. Elev. 118 m Slopes above alluvial forest; with Liquidambar, Pinus, Illicium floridanum, Magnolia tripetala, Stewartia malacodendron. Flowers white. Small tree to 3 m tall; several non-flowering stems; apparently tolerant of recent controlled burns. Occasionally common on middle slopes, resprouting from controlled burns. Lat. 32.95601N Long. 87.42991W Datum: WGS84.
