    : United States: Florida: Miami-Dade County. Coconut Grove: The Kampong of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, 4013 S. Douglas Road. Plot Q-10. Along border leading to the point overlooking Biscayne Bay. Growing as weed in garden bed. Annual herb to 1 foot high. Flowers unisexual. Staminate flowers, tiny, whitish, in a dense spike. Carpellate flowers more widely spaced on the inflorescence, subtended by green, laciniate bracts. Fruit green, 3-lobed, soft-echinate.
