    : United States: Illinois: Coles County. ca 8 miles S of Charleston, Fox Ridge State Park, between the Embarras River and IL 130, along river at canoe launch site at N end of Ridge Lake Road. Elev. ca 170 m Riparian floodplain, including open draw-down mudflats, with Platanus, Populus deltoides, Liquidambar, Acer saccharinum, A. negundo, Celtis occidentalis, Ulmus americana, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Toxicodendron radicans, Cryptotaenia, Ageratina altissima, Persicaria caespitosa, Smilax tamnoides, Eupatorium serotinum, Ambrosia trifida, Campsis radicans, Laportea canadensis, Symphoricarpos, Vitis, Aster, Viola, Polygonum virginianum, Pilea pumila, Cinna arundinacea, Zizia aurea, Conoclinium coelestinum, Urtica dioica, Verbesina alternifolia, Campanula americana. Erect herb, sometimes to nearly 2 m tall; flowers dark reddish-purple; infrequent. Lat. 3925'16"N Long. 8810'16"W.
