Mowed roadside adjacent to pine plantation (historically mesic flatwoods?); with Lachnocaulon anceps, Hypericum mutilum, Linum, Salvia, Buchnera, Gaura, Rhynchospora, Juncus spp., Asclepias lanceolata, Polygala grandiflora. Roots with methyl salicylate smell (wintergreen); sepals white, green along midvein; petals yellow, greenish at base; thousands of plants along both sides of road for ca 1/3 mile.
