    : United States: Florida: Brevard County. Near Mims, ca. 2/3 mile E of Salt Lake, and 1 & 1/2 mile S of SR-46. Low forest, with Sabal palmetto, Liquidambar styraciflua, and on adjacent slightly higher ground, Magnolia, Juniperus, Quercus, Morus, Celtis, Carya glabra. A dominant tree in this low hammock; some individuals quite large (to 9 feet and 6 inches in circumference at breast height), the bark peeling away in large plates, so very shaggy!
    Notes : [Admin. note:] Specimen includes fruit on ground from previous season.
