    : United States: Florida: Volusia County. East of De Land and west of New Smyrna Beach on FL 44, ca 0.3 mile west of junction with I-95, on north side of road; on east side of small road that leads to fairly new fire station, just east of large powerline to north. Sandy roadside edge of a pine plantation (ex flatwoods), with Pinus palustris, P. elliottii, Lyonia fruticosa, Vaccinium myrsinites, Gaylussacia dumosa, Serenoa repens, Asimina pygmaea, Deeringothamnus rugelii, Gordonia lasiantha, Ilex cassine, I. glabra; open (recently cut), wetter powerline right-of-way also with Polygala nana, P. lutea, Pterocaulon pycnostachyum, Pteridium aquilinum, Erigeron quercifolius, Hypericum tetrapetalum, Aster reticulatus, Aletris, Aristida spiciformis, Hypoxis juncea, Buchnera americana, Lilium, Spiranthes, Lachnocaulon anceps, Eriocaulon decangulare, Syngonanthus flavidulus, Scleria. Shrub to ca 1 m tall; flowers pendent, outer petals white, greenish at base (especially externally, where often also with rusty brownish hairs), inner petals with reddish corrugations at inner base; common. Lat. 2900'51.2"N Long. 8059'45.4"W.
