    : United States: Florida: Alachua County. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens; along the entrance walkway to Summer House. Growing under shade of tall oak trees. Plant ca. 1.2 meters tall, leaning. Gray-green inflorescence slightly longer than the leaves. Flowers yellow, drying black. Leaves dark green and lustrous adaxially, reddish-gray abaxially; with reddish-brown spines on the edges. Lat. 29.61206N Long. 082.40902W Datum: WGS84. S21,T10S,R19E.
