    : United States: Florida: Alachua County. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens; The Rock Garden. Growing in an elevated sunny bed in soil between large rocks. Inflorescence spicate ca. 3.4 meters tall; peduncle glaucous gray ca. 3.0 cm in diameter at the base and ca. 1.5 cm in diameter just below the first flower. Flowers cover the upper 1.4 meters of the spike; mostly in groups of 2; ovary glaucous and greenish-yellow, ca. 20 mm long with a constricted neck; 6 tepals glaucous and light green, ca. 18 mm long and clasping the filaments in open flowers; filaments and style dark red; anthers ca. 18 mm long, yellow. Plant with ca. 19 leaves with light gray marginal spines facing backward. Leaves ca. 60 cm long X 4.5 cm wide, green to yellowish-green with a lighter longitudinal stripe on the upper surface; upper surface concave. Some leaves slightly falcate.
