    : United States: Florida: Highlands County. Rhizomatous erect shrub to 5ft tall, locally abundant (more so than the former parent). Abaxial surfaces of leaves not as pubescent as Q. pumila, but more so than Q. myrtifolia, and the older portions of the stems (trunks) more rigid and thicker than in Q. pumila). Growing in a moist savanna in sandy soil, with Quercus pumila, Q. minima, Serenoa repens, Ilex glabra, and Pinguicula pumila. Just to the E. of Bubba Rd., about 0.5mi N. of the intersection with Kissimmee Rd. Avon Park Air Force Bombing Range. 2737'52"N, 8113'26"W. UTM 17 477916E, 3056184N.
