    : United States: Florida: Lafayette County. 29 51.7'N 83 15.3' W ca 7.6 map miles NE of Tennille (junction U.S. 19/98 and FL 51); ca .5 mile S of Mud Creek; .55 mile N of South Cannel Road (= Bennett Grade Road) on FL 357 [or ca 6.3 miles SE of Cooks Hammock on FL 357], then .85 mile west on unnamed road. Sandy roadside through pine plantation with remnants of mesic flatwoods and bottomland forest, with Quercus spp., Acer rubrum, Myrica cerifera, Polygala leptostachys, Polypremum procumbens, Gaura angustifolia, Lythrum alatum. Roots with wintergreen smell (methyl salicylate?); flowers pinkish-purple.
