    : Cameroon. Korup National Park (SW part of Cameroon); vicinity of Wildlife Conservation Int'l. study camp in northern end of park (14 km. inside boundary); lat. 516'N, long. 99'E; alt. 240 m. On stream bank. Herb approx. 1 m. tall; Flowers: Four or five pink petals; Very yellow stamens opening by apical pores; Stamens look free at the base; Petals imbricate; Fruit: small green capsules with calyx attached and brown, sticky inside. Several ridged sections of flesh and many small seeds. Note strange little roots appprox. 1 inch long branching down from the leaves. They are covered with a clear gel for protection (?) Stem is woody at the base, soft on top.
