Science Writer, Intern

Mary-Lou Watkinson was the Florida Museum’s science writer intern from May 2017 to August 2018. She graduated from the University of Florida in journalism with a minor in English.

She hopes that her writing will inspire people to care about the Earth and seek more knowledge on topics they are not familiar with.

Her favorite things to write about are animals. However, you won’t catch her in the Butterfly Rainforest anytime soon because butterflies kind of scare her.

When she wasn’t at the museum, she was doing homework for her classes, reading a good book or visiting some place new.
