Wifi symbolUF announced a significant change in wireless connectivity back in August via email and a post on their news site at https://news.it.ufl.edu/infrastructure/wireless-connectivity-enhancements-made/.  However, the announcement language of “Constituent devices that have previously connected to UF’s wireless network do not have to do anything to continue access” needs some further explanation.

Better language is to say that there is a new process to connect wireless devices. Regardless of the reason, be it password change, new device, or reconnecting an existing device, this is the new process for connecting to eduroam at UF.

No longer attempt to directly select eduroam from available wireless networks. Instead, first forget/remove the eduroam network if present and then join the ufguest network. Once connected, browse to http://getonline.ufl.edu. Follow the onscreen instructions, which involve downloading and launching a client. The client will install the UF Trust Certificate and connect your device to the eduroam wireless network.

Don’t forget to enter your full Gatorlink address, including the @ufl.edu, when prompted. E.G. yourgatorlink@ufl.edu.

We are encountering an increasing number of problems, including annoying account lock outs, from users attempting to directly connect to eduroam without using the client at http://getonline.ufl.edu.
