Supply chains remain heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are in the midst of a global semiconductor shortage and orders for IT equipment are frequently delayed. To this end, the major computer manufacturers, UF Procurement, and the Office of Museum Technology encourage Museum IT Budget Authorities to begin end of year purchasing without delay.

The Museum IT Procurement Policy articulates that IT purchases and procurements should be requested via a Help Desk Request from the FLMNH Intranet. Detailed information on the Museum IT Purchasing Process, including a link to the Standard Configurations page, is published in the IT Purchasing at the Museum article on the OMT website.

Museum IT Budget Authorities (department heads, curators and collection managers) may use Inventory Explorer to view their department’s current assets. Inventory Explorer sorts the computers by age and uses a stop light color scheme to indicate the oldest machines needing replacement in red, intermediate aged computers in yellow, and the newest machines in green.
