Over 100 graduate student researchers assist at the Florida Museum Department of Natural History every year. Graduate students work closely with museum faculty and staff on developing and conducting research projects, managing field and laboratory investigations, analyzing collections, interpreting results, and writing and disseminating reports and publications.

Graduate students are welcome to propose and conduct their own master’s and dissertation projects in the labs, or work with an ongoing project headed by museum faculty and staff. Museum faculty can also serve as chairs or members on graduate advisory committees. The Florida Museum of Natural History encourages interdisciplinary research among its different institutional programs, and faculty and students engage in projects that frequently make use of multiple museum collections.
