Starry Night 2017 was an amazing success! Over 1,900 visitors joined us here at the Museum on October 27, spread throughout our inside and outside activities stations. And over 500 visitors attended our three speaking events. This was our first year setting up telescopes on the back lawn, and it gave us more space to move around and enjoy the viewing.

Many thanks to the clubs and groups that set up and showed off so many exciting things all evening, and special gratitude to our partners, the UF Astronomy DepartmentAlachua Astronomy Club, Santa Fe Astronomy Program and Kika Silva Pla Planetarium.

It was especially wonderful to welcome our speakers to this year’s event. James Albury is one of the hosts of PBS’s “Star Gazers”. And Dr. Amy Mainzer is a NASA astrophysicist and cosmos expert from PBS’s “Ready Jet Go!” on solar system science.

More photos from the event are posted to our Facebook page! A full list of activities is posted on our Starry Night event page.
