One of the perks of being a museum member is that you get invited to all the best parties! To celebrate our 100th birthday, we invited all of our members for a party–with CAKE!

We had science-y activities and games throughout the permanent exhibits, and special after-hours access to the Butterfly Rainforest and our Frogs! exhibit. And because museum staff and scientists were also invited, there was quite a lot of chatter about our current research, the fantastic objects on display, and the history of the Museum. We also had a virtual reality graffiti wall and a real live station to leave messages.

After a presentation by Mayor Lauren Poe and Museum Director Doug Jones, members enjoyed snacks and beverages, and music from the amazing Little Jake & the Soul Searchers.

A special set of Florida Museum women scientists cards were printed for this event, and they were so popular that we had requests for more available regularly through the Museum gift shop! This first run of collectors cards featured museum scientists: Nico Cellinese, Liz Wing, Jacqueline Miller, Susan Milbrath, Adania Flemming, Michelle Barboza, Kathy Deagan, Kitty Emery, Pam Soltic, and Laura Cotton
